There are downsides too and a good balance is likely a 2k monitor. You do not need a 4k monitor for photo editing, but it will make it easier to see details when zoomed out and provide more screen space. My initial assumption was that 4k must be better right? Surely more pixels means that you can see more detail and that’s one of the most important things? After some research I found out that this is actually not necessarily the case. A quick online search reveals a limitless number of monitors on the market including a large number of ones offering 4k resolution at various price points.
